Brazil moves towards fast internet connection
This is great news for me and my Brazilian folks! Brazil is moving towards faster internet for a reasonable price.
Two weeks ago the Brazilian cable company NET released new high-speed internet tiers:
Speed (Down/Up) | Price | Data Cap |
---|---|---|
2Mb/300Kbps | R$79 (US$33) | 20GB |
4Mb/600Kbps | R$99 (US$41) | 40GB |
8Mb/1.2Mb | R$199 (US$82) | 60GB |
This is significantly more competitive than other providers who are offering speeds of only up to 1Mb for R$200 (US$83).
The main concern with these new plans is the relatively low data caps - 20GB for the 2Mb plan, 40GB for 4Mb, and 60GB for 8Mb. These limits could be quite restrictive for heavy internet users, particularly those who frequently use BitTorrent or other P2P software.
